What weight should I choose?

The general rule is 10% of your body weight. Our 15 lbs (8 kg) blanket is ideal for adults between 130 and 220 lbs. If you’re under 130 lbs, a lighter option may be more comfortable.

How does a weighted blanket actually work?

The Dormia blanket uses Deep Pressure Stimulation (DPS) — the same technique used in occupational therapy for decades. The gentle, even pressure signals your nervous system to shift from alert mode into rest mode, naturally triggering serotonin and melatonin production while reducing cortisol (your stress hormone).

Will I feel too hot sleeping under it?

Our double-sided microfiber is breathable and temperature-neutral. The glass bead fill doesn’t retain heat the way synthetic fills do. Most customers report sleeping comfortably year-round, including Canadian summers.

Can I wash it at home?

Yes. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low or air dry flat. The quilted pocket construction keeps the beads evenly distributed even after multiple washes.

Is it safe for people with anxiety or sensory sensitivities?

Yes. Deep Pressure Stimulation has been widely studied for its calming effects on the nervous system. The Dormia blanket is used by people managing anxiety, stress, insomnia, ADHD, and sensory processing differences. Always consult your doctor if you have specific medical concerns.

When will I feel results?

Most customers notice a difference on the very first night — falling asleep faster and waking up less. Full adaptation typically takes 3–7 nights as your nervous system adjusts to the pressure.
